Someone had a Facebook account and suddenly it’s gone. It was a unilateral decision by Meta’s algorithm. Without question, without explanation, suddenly. That’s how Mr. Wiktor was “deleted” from Facebook. “For Meta, we’re not customers; we’re fuel for learning for the algorithms,” assesses Benita Jakubowska-Antonowicz.
A company’s digital security isn’t just about passwords, firewalls, and updates. There’s another area that can be just as damaging: online reputation security. The web works at lightning speed—all it takes is a single post, a fake account, a spoofed message “from the CEO,” or a manipulated recording, and a company begins putting out a fire that takes on a life of its own.
